Happy New Year!

That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.  ~Ephesians 4:20-24 (NIV)

Are you ready to continue walking our journey of faith together in 2019?  Are you exited about the possibilities and opportunities that God has in store for us this year? I am looking forward to it.  Let’s begin….

Did you make any resolutions for 2019?  I did not.  I don’t like the idea of making a list, because no matter how great my intentions are on January 1,  I rarely follow through for the whole year—probably because my list of resolutions becomes just one more burdensome to-do list.

However, I do believe that the celebration of a new year is a good time to evaluate where I am in my life and to consider where I am headed.  It’s a good time to seek guidance from Scripture and to ask God to show me the path toward righteousness. Am I living my life following the teachings of  Christ?  Do I need to let go of some of my old ways? Do I need to make changes so I am ready to put on my “new self” and become the person God created me to be?

After reflecting on these questions, I have set some goals to strive for this year.

  • I want to eat right and exercise so that I am physically healthy.
  • I want to be more diligent about Bible study and prayer so that I am spiritually healthy.
  • I want to declutter my house so that my home is a place of warmth, welcome, joy, and peace.
  • I want to declutter my mind and spirit so I have room for God to dwell there.
  • I want to seek God’s calling on my life and have the courage and commitment to go where He leads.
  • I want to live a life that leads others to faith in God.
  • I want to share my faith with others in a variety of ways (including this blog).

You will have different answers to the questions above than I have.  You will have different goals than I have.  You are on a different path than I am on.  And God has different plans for you than He has for me.  Isn’t it wonderful that we can all be so different, and yet be one in Jesus Christ.  And isn’t it wonderful that we can walk this journey together?
