What do you see when you look in a mirror? Do you see a beautiful woman—a woman of sacred worth? I know when I look in a mirror, I’m quick to see my perceived physical flaws. If I’m tired, or if my allergies have flared up, I’m very aware of the puffy dark circles under my eyes. I see the imperfections in my skin-tone, and the shape of my body (which is never quite what I want it to be). I never look in the mirror and think “I am beautiful.” Do you?
As women, we have been conditioned to think of beauty the way the world thinks of beauty—gorgeous hair, a fabulous figure, perfect white teeth, flawless skin, etc. But God doesn’t see us that way. He sees us as His beautiful handiwork—“fearfully and wonderfully made”. God designed us to be much, much more than our physical bodies. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, and are walking as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, we are even more beautiful. God put a light within each of us, and when we let it shine, our inner beauty radiates to those around us.
I know so many beautiful women, some of whom fit the world’s standards of beauty, and others who do not. I sometimes forget to look past their outward appearance (especially if I don’t know them well). When I do, I see that these women are all beautiful because they were created by God as His masterpieces. Some are even more beautiful because God’s love shines through them to everyone they encounter. The Holy Spirit lives in their hearts and their beauty abounds.
We were all “fearfully and wonderfully made” by the Creator. Let your beauty shine through as you radiate God’s love to the world. And remember, you are a woman of sacred worth!

This is a great reminder to all women. I often told my girls growing up and comparing themselves to others there outside beauty was not as important as there inward beauty. In time, the inward beauty would be what people remember and to always let it shine.
